This is a stunning Polka Dot Bat Wing Begonia starter plant. It comes rooted, established, and ready to plant. They are very interesting and so easy to grow. The Begonia maculata variegata is a wonderful unique begonia. It is referred to as the Polka Dot because of the large white and silver spots that cover the bat-winged like leaves. The amazing light pink flowers will bloom in clusters during the late spring and summer. It will reach a mature height of around 24 inches. They will thrive in bright but indirect sunlight. These plants love a ratio of 2 parts potting soil, 1 part perlite, and 1 part orchid bark with a slightly acidic to neutral pH level of 6.0 to 7.0. This mixture prevents root rot while providing the nutrients your plant needs. This soil mixture also provides good drainage and aeration. It likes a moist but not soggy soil. They will need to be watered when the first inch of soil is dry. It prefers a warm climate and does very well as a house plant. They thrive in humidity levels above 50%. Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or group the plants together to increase moisture in the air. Avoid placing your plant near drafts or air conditioning vents. It will grow well outdoors year round in USDA zones 9-11. It does best when the temperature is between 65°F and 80°F and the overwintering temperature cannot be less than 50°F.
